What is an artist’s price rating for?

Why do all the greatest names in contemporary art have a price rating?

Being rated means joining the “big league”. It lets you position yourself and know your place in the art market, but above all it is a guarantee of quality for your buyers.

Art lovers appreciate artists who offer a serious guarantee backed by official documents, particularly when the purchase becomes substantial.

A price rating reassures and legitimises the transaction. Thanks to the price rating, your clients have official assurance of the value of their works in the event of:

• Loss, damage, theft - the rating confirmed by the expert will prevail for the insurance valuation,
• Gift, division, inheritance, payment in kind - the rating confirmed by the expert will prevail in the notarial and tax valuation,
• ISF (French wealth tax) - the valuation of paintings will be based on the official rating for the amount of the tax exemption,
• Sale - the painting can be put up for sale (privately or at auction) with its certificate of authenticity and its price rating statement (an i-CAC exclusive).

Along with the Price Rating Statement and the Certificate of Authenticity, we offer you an important document to provide to your clients and contacts: the Expert Agreement – which will lastingly establish your credibility and reliability.
