i-CAC / Our mission

i-CAC – Listing and price rating of contemporary painters

i-CAC is an independent body dedicated to listing, analysing and certifying working professional painters. Its mission is to bring structure to the contemporary painting market by offering a reliable, objective and transparent price index, open to everyone in the art world.

An initiative born within the artistic community

The i-CAC platform was founded by a group of artists who wanted to improve the recognition of professional painter status. At a time when anyone can call themselves a “painter” without any clear framework or official recognition, i-CAC provides a structured framework that distinguishes professionals committed to a genuine artistic practice.

i-CAC is aimed first and foremost at professional painters, but also at the whole art market ecosystem: galleries, auctioneers, collectors, art critics, patrons and discerning art lovers. All of them will find a rigorous source of information here, helping to promote artists and to analyse the market.

i-CAC

A clear mission: certify, list, promote

  • Identify working professional painters, mainly French-speaking
  • Assess their reputation through concrete, verifiable criteria
  • Award an official certification together with a Price Index
  • Give artists a clear position within their profession
  • Promote them to national and international cultural bodies
  • Issue a recognised Professional Certificate in Pictorial Art

Two types of profile: certified artists and recognised artists

Certified

Certified artists

They have been awarded an i-CAC Price Index following an analysis of their career.

Their profile is validated and their worth is recognised.

Recognised

Recognised artists

They are not yet certified but are listed because of the quality of their work, which has been noticed by galleries, art fairs or the public. They can become certified if they meet the eligibility criteria.

All of them contribute to the creative momentum that i-CAC aims to encourage.

Eligibility criteria for certification

  • French artists: registration with the CFE (Centre de Formalités des Entreprises, the French business registration office), a SIRET number and URSSAF registration
  • French-speaking artists: membership of a recognised professional body (Andorra, Belgium, Canada, Luxembourg, Monaco, Switzerland)
  • Other nationalities: tax residence in France

Accepted techniques: acrylic, oil, watercolour, pastel, gouache, digital art, collage, drawing, dripping, spray paint, mixed media…

Accepted artistic styles: figurative, abstract, contemporary or other (please specify).

A benchmark label for the art market

Thanks to its index, i-CAC can place an artist precisely on a scale of professional recognition. This price rating becomes a reference point that market players, collectors, gallery owners and buyers can consult. The question “What is this artist’s i-CAC index?” has become second nature in professional discussions. It makes it possible to compare, promote and justify artistic or commercial decisions. Today, i-CAC has established itself as a benchmark tool for rating contemporary painters. By focusing on objective and accessible criteria, it brings greater transparency, visibility and professionalism to the entire painting sector.
