i-CAC / Frequently Asked Questions

i-CAC frequently asked questions

Find answers to frequently asked questions about i-CAC certification, how the price index is calculated, eligibility criteria and the services offered.

What is the i-CAC index?

The i-CAC index is a score awarded to a certified professional painter. It measures their reputation on the art market on the basis of objective criteria (sales, exhibitions, awards, publications, etc.).

Who is i-CAC certification for?

It is intended for professional painters, mainly French-speaking, who hold an official status (SIRET number, URSSAF registration, or the equivalent in their country). Artists must work in recognised painting techniques.

Which styles and techniques are accepted?

Accepted techniques: oil, acrylic, watercolour, gouache, pastel, digital art, drawing, collage, dripping, spray paint and mixed media. Styles may be figurative, abstract, contemporary or other (please specify).

How much does i-CAC certification cost?

1 year: €60 (Premium plan) / 2 years: €100 (Medium plan) / 3 years: €140 (Optimum plan) / Bonuses are available through the referral programme.

How does the certification process work?

The artist submits a form with their details. i-CAC experts then analyse their career against verifiable criteria. If the requirements are met, the artist is awarded an index and a personalised profile is published.

Can my index be reviewed?

Yes, at any time during the certification period. The request is free of charge and must be supported by evidence (sales, exhibitions, prizes, press coverage…). The experts then reassess the index in line with the artist’s actual progress.

Does i-CAC certification assess artistic quality?

No. The i-CAC index makes no subjective judgement. It measures only the artist’s recognition on the art market, based on concrete, publicly available facts.

How can I find out whether an artist is certified?

Simply browse the artist database on i-cac.fr. Certified artists’ profiles clearly display their index and status. A search engine and a Top 50 ranking are also available.

How can a gallery be listed?

A gallery can apply to be listed if it represents at least one i-CAC certified artist. Once approved, it has its own profile in the gallery directory.

Is there a referral programme?

Yes. A certified artist can refer other artists and build up free months of certification. Referred artists benefit from reduced prices depending on the plan they choose.
